2000 NHK Trophy:  Irina Profile Piece

Announcer: "Irina Slutskaya will be the next to go. She won the grand prix final last year but then the world championships broguht major disappointment. At the 2000 worlds, US champ, mk was looking to regain her world title after losing it in 99. She skated flawlessly, even landing a triple-triple combination but sincce she was the first of the contenders to skate, she had to sit backstage and wait for Irina Slutskay's performance. With only one small error but no triple-triples, Irina saw her hopes for a world title dashed after a remarkable season of wins. It was Michelle Kwan's moment to celebrate as she captured her 3rd world championships over Slutskaya and the 99 world champion, Maria Butyrskaya. This rivalry continued this year as Slutskaya turned in a win against Michelle earlier this season at Skate Canada. And she she says she's ready to take on Michelle Kwan or Maria Butyrskaya anytime."

Irina Slutskaya: "I really love competing. When I'm competing with Maria or Michelle or with somebody else,  i really love competing. I love how I feel inside of me when I go to a competition. I think if doesn't compete you know my life would be so boring."
