Amy's Grease on Ice Review in Landover, MD |
| Oh my goodness...I wish
it were still last night. The show was so incredible...I loved it!!!! Nancy was so
teriffic! I don't think my smile left my face when she was out on the ice...she did a
incredible job, not only skating but acting as well! There were a few new songs that they
put in it, and there were also a few omitted - but it was great regardless. I was kind of
irritated, because Nancy seemed to be always going more toward the other side of rink -
her "programs" would pass by me alot, but they never stopped....I kept waving to
her though...but I don't know if she saw me...the people around me must have thought I was
crazy - my hand was spazzing every time she came out...lol. Towards the end of the
show..."Sandy" skated a program all by herself, wearing pajamas that I have! Of
course, I started spazzing out again! lol...now don't I feel special...:o). The show had
so many neat props. I don't remember all of the details - I was too involved in
Nancy....but at one point one of the girls in the "gang" just fell over her
feet...and then the one next to her was going backwards and fell over her...but they got
up and continued, it as kinda funny because it was a dumb mistake....Rizzo fell in one of
her solo performance, but no big deal. I don't think it affected the show much...I wish I
had known I could have taken pictures - but stupid me, I didn't even take pictures...:(. Oh well....Now the highlight of my wonderful evening..... About halfway through intermission, I was sitting there with my friend and we were just kinda looking around and making faces at my brother and his girlfriend :). Well, I turn to the left and go into complete and total shock. Right there, two feet - maybe less - away from me is Jerry, and in his arms...Matthew!!!!! I think I just stared for a few seconds before I actually realized it was them...and then of course I spazzed and told my friend. He was talking to some people he knew on his way out to find some seats for the second half of the show...Well, Matthew was even more precious in person and he is really tiny...Jerry is also not as big as he seems on TV...but that would make sense considering Nancy looks six feet tall on tv...but in reality isn't anywhere near that, lol....So anyway, when he walked right in from of me...I was going to say hi.....but I chickened out and I didn't know if that would be rude....so my chance was gone, but just seeing them was great! Anyway...that's my night...Don't forget to tell about yours KAHL! Nakskate |
Allison's Review of Grease on Ice in Philadelphia |
| Hi everyone- I went to Grease on Ice last night in Philadelphia with my parents and friend, Sara (the same group from Skaters' Tribute to Broadway :)) We were in the second row on the ice, so we had a pretty good view of everything (and our seats will be extra important later :)) They had all kinds of stuff in the halls of the arena to buy. There were Grease on Ice snowcones (with Grease on Ice on the cup), cotton candy (bag says Grease on Ice), and you could have your picture taken with someone in the back of a 50s car (Sara and I went :)) They also had 4 or 5 T-shirts (one with Nancy on it), a black, leather, Grease on Ice jacket, teddy bears, notebooks, cups, banners, a picture of Nancy that says "Stay Cool! Nancy Kerrigan", and a poster of Grease on Ice with Nancy on it. Before the show, the show's "disc jockey" Vince Fontaine came out and was taking requests from the audience for a song from his hit list of 50s songs. The scariest moment of the show: just as the show was about to begin, an announcer came on saying "In this show, the part of Sandy will be played by....." My mom, Sara, and I looked like three deer caught in the headlights, because it sounded SO much like they were going to say someone else was playing the part of Sandy. But then they finished with "two-time Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan." My heart was beating fast for a long time into the show from my scare :) Anyway, the show was cute and very good. Scott Davis was Kenickie and really fit the role. Nancy was awesome and did a great job with her part. Since I'm sure most of you are familiar with Grease, I won't bore you all with the details :) Nancy's biggest solo number was "It's Raining on Prom Night," and she skated a lot in her pajamas :) Sara and I liked "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee" because we love that song, and during hand jive they had the audience do it along with the skaters. A couple times they had explosions with sparklers and stuff which made me jump about a foot in the air (I guess my nerves were still bad from the beginning announcement :)) At the end of the show, Nancy came out in her black outfit and the skaters each did something in the middle of the rink as the audience cheered. Then the really funny part came.... All of the skaters started to skate down to the end of the rink where we were sitting. They were dancing with each other and doing the hand jive and stuff. Before we knew it, Nancy was standing right in front of us! My mom and I start flailing our arms trying to ge her attention. She saw us and recognized us and started waving at me. (Sara said she was probably thinking, "Oh no, they're back!" LOL) The skaters stood there for a pretty long time (at least it seemed long to me) and Sara and I kept screaming for Nancy (well, I don't know if Sara was screaming, I wasn't paying that much attention :)) and my mom was taking pictures. Nancy looked over multiple times and waved, which I couldn't get enough of :) Then the skaters went over to the other side and started doing the hand jive. As soon as they finished and Nancy started skating back towards us I screamed. Nancy heard me and looked and started laughing. We must have looked absolutely crazy :) The skaters skated around the rink and then skated off the ice. I was like a smiling idiot by that time and wasn't paying much attention :) Anyway, if Grease on Ice comes to your town, I would try to go see it. It's definitely worth it! Allison |
Claire's Review of Grease on Ice in Philadelphia |
| This past weekend I was
fortunate enough to go see Nancy in the Grease On Ice Tour in Philadelphia. Nancy is my
absolute favorite skater in the world and she did a wonderful job at this show. What I thought was really neat about this show was how much they got the audience involved in it. While they were setting up the first set they had people from the audience pick from a list of songs from the fifties and had them dedicate it to some one. I thought that was a nice way to get people involved, and it was fun to listen to the music. Later in the show, the skaters got the audience to "dance" along to the "Hand Jive" and to some other things. All the sets were very well done, and it was very creative in the ways that they move to each one. I'll asume that everyone is familiar with the story of "Grease". The skaters acted the story out very well and seemed to enjoy themselves-Especially Nancy! She looked like she was having a blast! Nancy played the part of Sandy very well and really skated great! She landed all her jumps and made everything look effortless. One of my favorite moves that Nancy does is her sprial. I love hers and she did several throughout the show. All of the skater's outfits were well done, and Nancy looked beautiful in all of her's. The whole show was very well done, and I definately recomend it, especially if you are a Nancy fan. It is no wonder that they had to add another show to the Philadelphia stop because the other ones where almost sold out. It was a great show! Claire |
